Remembering Raven, my friend and Creative Collaborator.

I recently lost my friend Raven, and I wanted to share one of my favorite memories out of the many I've had with her. It's taken me a while to write this because I'm not big on sharing emotional stuff publicly, but this memory deserves to be told.

When I decided to direct a short film called "Flatters," Raven was one of the first people to volunteer her time as my production designer. That was just who she was - always there to help, no questions asked.
We were shooting this gag that required throwing fake blood at a door. The timing had to be perfect, the texture had to look just right. As a director, I always roll on the first take - you never know what might happen.
The magic didn't happen on take one. We completely missed the mark. But instead of getting frustrated, Raven reset props and we did it again. We finally got the take and I can still hear Raven's laugh echoing in my head - this genuine, infectious giggle that made you love her. Raven was truly a free spirit and you will be missed. The sets won't be the same without you.
